Growing up in Oxfordshire, Blenheim Palace was virtually on

my doorstep and is the source of many happy childhood

memories. In the spring of 2015 I revisited Blenheim for the first

time as an adult. Over a number of days I rediscovered this

historic palace and its’ landscape and gardens. This book is my

own personal interpretation of the patterns, textures and surfaces

to be found in and around the buildings. What caught my

attention were the small ornamental details that are easily

overlooked, I hope that in focusing on these I have been able to

capture something of the nature of this great

palace.

The first of my final year self-initiated briefs was based on

Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. Over several visits I collected

various details, textures and surfaces from around the palace and

grounds. Using my favourite medium of print, I have re-created

and collated these details into a hand printed and bound book,

celebrating this historic palace through the eyes of a

contemporary illustrator.
